Some of the best coarse and Carp fishing regions in Europe.
The beautiful region of Extremadura, some 250km South West of Madrid in Spain, is home to some of the best coarse and Carp fishing reservoirs in Europe. Wonderful waters such as Orellana,La Sarena, Canemara and Garcia Sola, are set amongst the stunning spainish scenery and hold prodigious stocks of Carp, Barbel, Pike, Black Bass & Tench.
Carp, mainly Common, Mirror and Crucian are regularly caught at 20-30lb, with the current record 65lb. Barbel normally average 15-20lb, but can be larger, with 40lb the current high and Pike to over 40lb . Extremadura is steeped in history and contains beautiful, “lost in time” cities like Caceres (A World Heritage site for 2016), Trujolli, with its stunning 10th century castle and Badajoz.
Techniques and Methods
Pop-up Boilies and Tiger nuts are popular if you’re in pursuit of Carp. Live bait, such as cray fish, or dead fish have been the most productive if it’s Barbel you’re after. Lure fishing can be productive for Black Bass and Pike.
Seasons
The season is open all year , but the peak periods are Spring and Autumn (April-May and October-November). They are however relatively unaffected by the winter drop in temperature and continue feeding throughout . Local Spanish barbel experts fish regularly in the Winter months.The only season that we do not recommend is Summer, daytime temperatures are very high (can often reach 40-45 degrees in the day).
Organisation & Logistics
Flights are to Madrid or Seville and one or both of these can be serviced from Gatwick, Heathrow, Liverpool, Leeds., Luton, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Birmingham,. Our Guide can collect you from the airport or we can arrange car hire for you. Either way, our guide will provide transport to and from your fishing in an air conditioned four wheel dirve vehichle throughout the period of your stay. You can fish up to 4 different lakes during your stay and our guide will advise you accordingly, depending what you’d prefer to catch. Access to the lakes is restricted and much of it is on private land, so the local knowledge of our guide is key to ensuring a successful week.
Accommodation
Self-catering accommodation will be in a modern, typical Spanish town house, with a fully equipped kitchen, bait freezer and storage room. (see below). It is centrally located for fishing venues and close to all amenities including bars and restaurants. Alternatively, stay at a typical Spanish Hotel where all rooms are en-suite with twin beds, they have TV and air-con / heating. Most have a lively bar area and pleasant dining area, often frequented by Spanish Carp, Barbel and Pike Anglers.
Self-Catering
To ensure a hassle and stress free holiday with us and not to disrupt your fishing, we can arrange to do all of your shopping for you or take you to one of the local supermarkets. This service is included in our package as are bank side cooking facilities. For evening meals, a typical Spanish “Menu Del Dia” is available at several local restaurants or bars, consisting of a 3 or 4-course meal, for approximately 10 Euros.

Fishing
Licenses need to be applied for in Spain 30 days prior to departure . Provide us with a copy of the photo page of your passport and we will arrange all this for you.

Our guide will provide all necessary tackle and bait, although you can take your own tackle if you’d prefer. Just advise the guide upon your arrival of your preference.
Fishing equipment supplied includes : Shimano or Fox rods, Bait-runner or Grauvell Big Pit reels, chairs, rod-pods, bite indicators, landing nets, unhooking mats, weigh sling, scales, boilie boat, baiting-up boat equipped with sonar, cool boxes and an ample bait pack. All other necessary equipment except for end tackle.
