Senegal Shooting

St Louis
Situated on Senegal's Northern most border, surrounded by the mighty Atlantic Ocean to the west, Mauritania to the north and one of the most fertile wetlands in the world to the east, St Louis is a sportsmans paradise. Both shooters and fishermen alike will find plenty to keep them entertained, a huge selection of options, ensure you will always find something to fill a week or even a fortnight.

  • World Class Wildfowl shooting:
From 5th December – 20th March a huge number of migratory Gargany (an extremely fast target, not unlike a Teal) alongside tens of thousands of resident Whistling duck, Pygmy geese and, Spur wing Geese feed on the Parc de Diodji wetlands. Senegals liberal bag limits mean that this really is a wildfowling paradise. Costs are about 30% cheaper than anything we have seen and the quality of the operation and the sport will ensure you a memorable trip.
  • Bushpigs, Doves and Pigeons:
From 5th December to the end of April these are treated as almost pest species and prolific numbers of Doves and Pigeons will almost guarantee excellent flighted sport. Early morning stalking for local bushpigs is not to be missed, these wily pigs are not an easy quarry and a client will do well to fill his bag limit. Rifles and Shotguns can be supplied although arrangements can be made for clients to bring their own. We arrange all licenses and local permissions as part of the package.

Les Paletuviers offers two separate sites , the Main larger hotel at Toubakota on the mainland with a shooting preserve of 30,000 hectares and myriad different creeks and Bolongs . Or the Isle de Paletuviers which is situated on a 20,000 hectare island fringed on one side by the Atlantic and on the other by the still calm waters of Sipo creek.

Toubakota
The Sine Saloum Delta area of Senegal is one of Africa’s untouched Savannah wildernesses. The Summer rains supplying an abundance for a vast array of Fish and Wildlife. Situated in the Senegalese village of Toubakota, Le Paletuviers is perfectly placed to offer the traveling sportsman and his family the chance to combine first class fishing and shooting with a truly idyllic relaxing holiday.

Offering shooting and tracking over more than 50,000 hectares , the hotel offers the truly wild shooting experience , none of your quarry are reared or fed in , So this is a venue for the true sportsman.

The ethics of the management dictate that all National bag limits and shooting codes are strictly adhered to, and as such the client may take up to 2 Bushpigs (warthogs) and 1 Hyena per week. These are normally taken by tracking with your own personal guide, most shots are between 20-100mts and taken running. 270s are the preferred weapon of choice and the hotel has a good selection of weapons although importing your own is not a problem. Only Male Bushpigs can be taken, with most trophies being in the 100kg range although animals up to 160kg have been recorded.

Do not be fooled, this is not easy shooting with a great deal of stealth and concentration being required to get yourself into position for the perfect shot. These Pigs are truly wild and the clumsy hunter will come away empty handed.

Whilst out shooting, each Hunter and his companions are provided with their own personal vehicle and will have the freedom to hunt wherever his tracker feels offers the best chance on the day.

Bird shooting offers a relaxing release from the tension of stalking, Francolin, Guinea fowl, Green Pigeon and Doves are all in abundance and offer good sport towards dusk. National Bag limits are 25 head per gun per day. Several hire guns are available and Cartridges can also be supplied although they are more expensive than in the Uk.
