BILLFISH
This week was not that great for billfish with only
34% of the boats came back with marlin flags. Although it
wasn’t very good in proportions, we had some boats that
did great for their anglers, like C-rod that released a Blue
Marlin and landed a 90lbs Sailfish and 4 Dorados for James
Sua and Scott Duwitz from Tulsan, OK. The Falcon caught and
released one Black Marlin and kept a 325lbs Blue for Dennis
Skinner. Mextime released 2 Sailfish and landed 10 Dorados
from 20 to 50 lbs for our British friend Mark Bayley. Valerie
released 3 Sailfish for Ray Wetter, Sonny and Francis Warrington,
that same day; Cabolero released a 290 lbs Blue Marlin for
Todd Ryder from Warrenton, VA. On October 5th, Tracy Ann released
1 Blue Marlin and 1 Sailfish and boated 5 Dorados and 3 Yellow
fin Tuna for Anthony and Susan Gonzon from Delaware. And Valerie
caught a 100 lbs Sailfish and released 4 Dorados for W.J.
Andrews. A total of 43 billfish were caught and 37 were released.
OTHER SPECIES:
Great week for Dorado with 69% of the boats coming
back with flags, average was 4 fish per boat but we had a
few boats with 8 and 10 of them.
Yellow fin tuna decreased a little more, only 12% of the boats
caught tuna. A few boats did really good and came back with
5 and 10. Cabolero caught only 4 of them on October 2nd, however,
one of them was 150lbs making a great dinner for Ken Cook
and Glenn Dyessi from Mississippi. Wahoo decreased too with
only 3 catches, we had a Lemon shark and a Juvenile shark
both released.
