Sea of Cortez, Chileno, Sta. Maria Bay, with a few
catches close to San Jose del Cabo
June 9th to June 15th, 2006
WEATHER CONDITIONS: Rough, very strong winds,
which made us stay on the Sea of Cortez, a bit cold in the
morning but really hot on mid-day reaching the 90F
AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 66 F on the Pacific and
74 F on the Sea of Cortez
BEST LURES: Live bait
BILLFISH
Even though we had some rough weather this week,
we have an overall success rate of 93%. A total of 71 Striped
Marlin were caught and 63 were released along with two Sailfish.
On June 13th, Ruthless released two and boated a nice 210
lbs Striped Marlin for Kevin Reighter from Huntington Beach,
CA. The same day, Valerie released one Striped marlin, three
Yellow fin tuna and kept three Dorado for Team Tiger from
Prairieville, LA. On June 15th, the 50ft Sr. Moment released
a Striped Marlin and boated 1 Dorado and 3 Wahoo’s for
the group of Mr. Van Treese friends. We want to mentioned
the Lawhead brother’s who released the past June 02nd
on their annual fishing trip to Cabo a 150lbs Striped Marlin
aboard the Tracy Ann.
OTHER SPECIES:
This week Dorado got a little better with a 40% success
rate and an average size between 15-30 lbs. Yellow fin Tuna
slowed down with only 17% success rate however on June 10th
Andrea caught and released over 30 of them for Jeff Bird,
Ed & Joe Uceda from Orange, CA. Tuna was between 10 to
25 lbs. We had a few Wahoo and Skipjacks and a couple of Roosterfish
on the pangas.
