A quick round up of the March 2016 activity from Jackpot Sport Fishing, where our boat ‘Good Day’ hosted 18 Sport Fishing Charters throughout the month fAwesome Sailfish battlerom the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica. The Sailfish fishing was phenomenal in March and it was awesome to see so many of our guests catch their first Sailfish – really great to be a part of the experience for them!  We fish for Sailfish using teasers such as daisy chains and Squidnation ‘Flippy Floppys’ and then Ballyhoo deadbaits rigged to circle hooks which are much better for the healthy release of the fish.  Any of you that have fished circle hooks for Billfish before will know that the ‘hook up’ takes a bit of mastering and many times the fish gets the better of you, but this is all part of the fun.   On many of our days in March we raised in excess of 20 or 30 Sailfish and very often we had multiple fish in the spread at the same time.  These conditions are PERFECT for Fly enthusiasts so if ‘Sailfish on Fly’ is a bucket list thing for you then come to Costa Rica in February or March and we will help put you on the fish…..and leave the hooking of them to you!
